K21 Celebrates Kosciusko Community YMCA With $20,000 Gift

As a continuation of celebrating its 20th year of grantmaking for health impact in Kosciusko County, K21 Health Foundation provided a gift of $20,000 to Kosciusko Community YMCA. These gifts are intended to honor and appreciate health-related nonprofit organizations in the community that have been serving others for 20 or more years.

For more than 50 years, the YMCA has served the residents of Kosciusko County in many ways including physical fitness opportunities, youth development services, kids after-school and summer locations and social responsibility programs. Its mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Over the years, the YMCA has faced the challenge of providing facilities to meet the demands of the expanding population of the county. In December of 2014, they opened the doors to a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility on Mariners Drive. The new 72,000 square foot Parkview Warsaw YMCA now offers programs and services to over 12,000 members of all ages. K21 provided the lead gift of $2 million to launch their successful capital campaign.

“As an organization that focuses on the health of our community, K21 has worked closely with the YMCA over our 20-year history,” said K21 President and CEO Rich Haddad. “It is critical for a healthy community to have access to facilities that provide opportunities for physical fitness, as well as other wellness programs. A successful local YMCA is a cornerstone to a community’s pursuit of a healthy culture.”
