Over $200,000 was provided in financial assistance for 2009 as a result from the fundraising . We thank the Cancer Care Fundraising Committee for all of the hard work that has gone into these events. The 2010 Third Annual Idol Nite was an amazing success. The talent in Warsaw just keeps presenting itself, and is so willing to work for this unbelievable fund. There is so much involved in putting a show like this together, and as the backbone of it all, is it's creator - Diane McGarvey. Once again this community came together and selflessly gave of its gifts. The outpouring of compassion and selflessness transformed itself to such an entertaining night. The highlight of the evening was Steve Yeager's song to his wife Tracey, who passed away a week later from a five year battle with Breast Cancer. His song, "So Small" left the crowd speechless and tearful. Steve won the "Contest" by raising over $16,000 for the fund, bringing the total that evening to over $54,000. (Over doubling last year's total) Kandice Robinson and her mother, Tammie, gave an unbelievable musical interpretation of how emotionally devastating living with cancer is. (Kandice is also a cancer warrior.) This year's judges were as close to the "Real" Idol judges as we could get. Randy, Ellen, Cara, and of course Simon, brought a comic relief element to an emotional evening. Sadly and ironically, everyone in the show had been touched by cancer, including contestant, Krista Bragg, a childhood Leukemia SURVIVOR. The fact that cancer hits so close to home now, makes this fund so vitally important, even the Future Idols have in some way felt the devastation of cancer with a family member or friend. What a gift that they were able to participate in an evening so great, and to see how we can all give back. no matter how old we are. What an honor it was for all who participated, as well as those who attended, to be part of an event that has such an extreme impact on those who live in this county. We are all looking forward to next year and what we can bring to the community for a great evening of entertainment, show off our talents, and at the same time help those who are truly in need. It was clear that everyone walked away with a strong sense of pride and anticipation for next year. Thank you to all who played a role in making this night a success!
