Question:    What are the application deadlines?

Answer:      February 1, May 1, August 1, and November 1.  (If the due date falls on a weekend, applications will be due by close of business on the Monday following the deadline.)

Question:    How many copies of the application and supporting documentation should I submit?

Answer:    You only need to submit the original application and supporting documentation.

Question:    Can I handwrite my application?

Answer:    K21 prefers but does not require that applications be typewritten, however handwritten applications must be completed in blue or black ink and must be completely legible.

Question:    Can I submit more than one application during any one cycle?

Answer:    Yes.  There is no limit as to the number of applications an organization can submit during one grant cycle.

Question:    Is there a limit on the dollar amount I can request?

Answer:    No.  There is no limit to the dollar amount your organization can request.  Please keep in mind, however, that you must be able to clearly explain the need for the entire amount you request.

Question:    What happens after I submit my application?

Answer:    K21 staff will take the first two to three weeks after a deadline and review the applications submitted.  Then in the next two weeks, when necessary, we will schedule an appointment with applicant to ask questions about the program or service, or to conduct a site visit.  The applications will then be distributed to the K21 Grant Committee, which meets to decide upon grant awards.

Question:    When will I know if it has been approved?

Answer:    Following the grant committee meeting, most applicants will be contacted within a few days with their answer.  If further information is needed by the Grant Committee to make a decision, the application will then be delayed until the next Board of Directors’ meeting.
